Welcome to First Grade!
This year will be a year full of many fun activities.  We will do art projects, write poems, celebrate holidays,  celebrate special days such as: Wacky Wednesday, Green day,  and Earth day.  We will also spend much of our time on academic subjects, Reading, Math, and Writing.
First grade will be an adjustment from Kindergarten.  There will be more seat work involving independent work and it will feel like a longer day for students. Part of that is due to more paper and pencil work, no nap time and many new concepts will be introduced.  The main focus in first grade is learning how to read,
writing stories, and basic math concepts such as: addition/subtraction, telling time, measurement, and counting money.
